Scout Law: Our actual laws are based on an abbreviated
version of the British laws:

5.  A Scout is courteous
6.  A Scout is a friend to animals

We use a rhyme to remember the laws:

   Cub Law: Cub Scouts always do their best, think of others before themselves and do a good turn every day.

   Cub Law (F.S.E.): The Cub honors his parents and obeys his leaders, Always does his best and is a friend to all.

   Rover Prayer: By the spirits of the just, Made perfect in their suffering, Teach us in our turn Oh Lord, To serve thee as we ought, To give and not to count the cost, To fight and not to heed the wounds, To toil and not to seek for rest, To labor and not to seek for any reward, Save that of knowing that we do thy will.

United States of America:

   Scout Law (Boy Scouts of America): A Scout is...Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind,
Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent.

Scout Law (Girl Scouts of the USA): I will do my best:
to be honest
to be fair
to help where I am needed
to be cheerful
to be friendly and considerate
to be a sister to every Girl Scout
to respect authority
to use resources wisely
to protect and improve the world around me
to show respect for myself and others through my words and actions
